Thank goodness there is no need for air conditioning at The Moult. Open the windows and let the sea air waft inside to cool the house on warm days and nights.

The house is heavenly, but at this time of year with the sea sparkling and the sensational weather who would want to be anywhere other than outside exploring the gardens, the beaches and coastal walks beyond? 

It is hard to leave The Moult, but it is wonderful to pop across on the ferry to sample the white sand at Mill Bay and Sunny Cove, the perfect spots to practice your frisbee and ball skills. You are never too far from The Moult and you can just take a look back across the estuary and enjoy new vistas of The Moult and know you are not far from ‘home’.

With a 22 metre pool to enjoy at The Moult who would want to drag themselves away but it would be a pity not to see the enticing special offers in the sales in Salcombe’s lovely boutiques. Who knows, maybe a new Jack Wills swimming costume for the pool or a JAM hoodie? When we walk into town we are always tempted by the amazing ice cream flavours on offer at the Salcombe Dairy and particularly enjoy their delicious milkshakes, so refreshing after a long stroll.

Best of all if you really want to cool down in the heat of the summer Salcombe has such fabulous water sports to enjoy. Feel the wind through your hair as you sail or speed along on a RIB. Luckily all these activities are easy to organise in Salcombe so if you want an afternoon bouncing on a doughnut this is the place to be. No doubt this July we will be heading over to Bantham to enjoy some waves beyond the sheltered Salcombe Estuary?

This July The Sunday Times travel section raved about the beaches in and around Salcombe and of course recommended the one and only Winking Prawn on North Sands Bay (a few minutes stroll from The Moult).

Kingsbridge Fair is going on until 23 July with all sorts of fun events by day and night and we can’t wait for this year’s Salcombe’s Regatta at the end of the month, surely the highlight of the year!
